Carl, when I was rockhounding in southwestern Ontario in the 1990's, we could bring back to the US any and all rock specimens we found, no restrictions. I'm pretty certain Canadians could do the same from the US to Canada. There are restrictions, however, for fossils. You would need to check Canadian law regarding fossils, such as Burgess Shale fossils and dinosaur bones.
