Can you see any vugs (hollow pockets) in them? Any mineral crystals are likely to be quite small, as the rock is small and so will be the vugs. Unless you intend to collect micro crystals for micromounting, I would not break up the rocks. I don't think you will gain anything by it.

What kind of rock have you got(granite, limestone, sandstone, etc?) Is there a mineral club near where you live that you could join? The best local information for places to collect would be from club members.
