Re: cutting matched cabs for earrings?
Hi Nancy,I assume you are cutting cabs and that you are familiar with dop wax. You can simply join the two pieces together with the same dop wax you use to attach cabs to a dop stick. I've used this approach before with success, but finally concluded that for most practical purposes, simply carefully grinding each piece to outline produces sufficiently matched shapes. I use heavy card stock to make custom outline templates. If you are matching face pairs, be sure you mark out a left and right side for non-symmetrical shapes. If you want to glue the pieces together using epoxy, try adding cornstarch to the epoxy when you mix it. Adding cornstarch makes the epoxy more permeable by acetone or Attack, greatly reducing the time required for a solvent to loosen and dissolve the glue joint.
