shortwave uv light
I have assembled a pretty good assortment of fluorescent minerals, mostly collected in southeast Arizona and western New Mexico. They fluoresce well under short-wave UV using a small portable light I have, but virtually no response to long wave. I am interested in making a display case for some of the best ones, but AC short-wave lights are quite expensive. I have found that the germicidal light market is a good source of reasonably priced short-wave bulbs. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience in fabricating a short-wave light source from components.
