Re: need some info on looking for geodes in keokuk

Hi Jackie, I live in the St. Louis area. A good friend of mine, and I took our four kids, then aged 4 to 6, to Jacob's two year ago. We had trouble reaching him by phone too so just keep trying. He was up at the flea market and showed us how to get back to his place. It was a long walk from where we parked to where we 'dug'. There was NO SHADE whatsoever. It was hard work chiseling the geodes from the wall. Most were golf ball size or smaller. They shatter easily when you try to open them. Three of the kids had a blast, but one was suffering in the heat. Both adults had a great time. I don't think we will ever go back there, but we are glad we went once. I don't recall seeing any poison ivy in the dig area, but by now the area may have shifted. I am not exerienced with the other places, but let me know how it goes since my kids love geodes. Who do I think I'm foolin, I love the darn things too> It is always so much fun to see what is inside.
Have a great birthday.
