In total agreement. I too bought the 12" Lortone, and in hindsight wish I would have gotten the 14". But you know what? Had I gotten the 14" then I would probably have said the 18" would have been a better choice, lol. I do love my 12", but there always seems to be the "can't wait to cut" rock that is just too big. I'm not all that experienced in the lapidary field, but I have to agree, buy the best you can afford. As for the brand, just keep doing your homework.
