Re: Re: Re: Re: re-opened? Mason Mtn Mine, NC

We took our 8 year old grand-daughter to Mason's Mine in June (08) spent 1 day. my wife found a 21cwt sapphire and smaller ones. I found a 12cwt and many smaller stones. We are from Lafayette, In. We stayed at the Comfort Inn, Franklin. It was very clean and the staff were friendly. We found a couple of big rubies @ the Sheffield mine. We felt it was too commercialized. Our grand-daughter found a 12cwt ruby there and I found a ten after several purchased buckets. We feel the Mason Mine is a lot more fun. We have no one to polish or cut our stones in this area(Lafayette) so my wife and I are going back in Sept. and will let the locals do it. I could not find the cost of doing it there. I heard around $40 per cwt?? does anyone know? We really had a good time and would recomend Mason Mine to every one.
