I recently came across a gold, diamond, and some sort of star gemstone. the star is beautiful and in the stone rather than "painted" on as so many fakes are today. I am totally thrown by the color...a translucent white with the very faintest yellow tint. It looks like a moonstone variety. The sales lady (not a jeweler and in a second hand shop) is sure it is an old Lindy star. I tried to look through the prongs to the bottom of the stone, but could not see any distinctive marks through the multi-pronged crown. The stone is completly surrounded by what appear to be good quality 5 point diamonds. I did notice that the cab was flat on the back. Any ideas or advice? Thank you in advance.
