The picture you posted looks like the corundum crystals I have dug in Montana. I have gotten them as small as 5 carat and as large as 2 1/2 pounds each. They come out of a mica schist and are coated with it on the outside of the crystals. They are not faceting quality but are star saphires. The colors I get are grey, grey/blue, grey/pink, pink, and dark red and red/purple. They cut into very beautiful star stones that I sell for $20 to $300 per carat depending on color.
