Re: Re: Help with location of CA agate beds

Thanks Mark.
The area I'm after is public land, as several rock clubs go there surface collecting all the time. I keep running across posts of people who've been there and picked up lots of surface agates who say the agate beds run for miles, are hard to reach, but the agates and jaspers are very colorful and great for tumbling. Unfortunately, they don't answer emails asking how to get there, even tho it's unclaimed public lands. That's why I thought I'd ask here.
One lady recently even posted that she'd just collected several buckets of NA stone artifacts from the surface. I think she meant the chips and shards that are remnants from tool making tho... collecting NA artifacts from public lands is illegal, don't know if she knows that or not.... Evidently the agate there is very lithic and doesn't need heat treatment to be knapped, and that's what interests me... to be able to collect some lithic material if I ever get out that way.

Thanks again,
Phil
