Goethite is a fairly common mineral. It is an iron oxide, commonly found on top of most hydrothermal sulfide ore deposits. I agree that it is an interesting mineral. It can be found as coatings that resemble rust, rounded mammelary masses that when broken open show a radiating structure, or even as small individual crystals.
