Please help, identification

If anyone could help id this rock, I would be very grateful. It is about 3 to 4 inches long, light lavender color (deeper lavender in the middle), appears almost clear or sorta seethrough in some areas. Has some smooth section but mostly looks like a sponge. In the sunlight it sparkles. I took it to a rock and gem show once and some guy there said it was slag and offered me five bucks for it. I dont know much about rocks but I dont think it is slag. I posted pictures on photobucket and will attempt to link to the pics (I hope it works).
