Thanks again Don,

I asked my uncle if he thought it was some funny looking quartzite. He said it was not because of the make up of it or the crystal sizes?? I don't remember exactly what he said. Actually I believe the dark reddish-brown portion is harder than the lighter because on the striped face of it the dark is slightly raised above the lighter. It is as if the lighter color material filled in between the darker. But I am a greenhorn just guessing. Thanks.
