Re: Glendon, N.C. pyrite?

Hi Daniel,

The Standard Minerals Co. Glendon Mine is only accessible twice a year to collectors, usually on a Saturday in October and April. On those dates, the pit is open for a half-day (8:00 - 12:00). From the company's perspective, the pyrite is an unwelcome impurity and unwanted byproduct of pyrophyllite mining. They have been quite generous to allow collector access to their active mining operation.

I don't yet know the date for this spring's trip - you might want to contact Randy Thomas at Standard Minerals (910-948-2267) for more info...
