The news of late has been hyping the dangers of lead and Christmas lights. CNN quoted an "expert" who stated that no amount of lead is safe and you should immediately was your hands after handling Christmas lights. That statement immediately made me wonder about all the galena and other lead-containing specimens in my collection. Since just about every rockhound has a galena specimen, do we need to wash our hands each time we pick up one? Does lead rub off that easily like the lead in Christmas lights?
