I use rio's 1mm bits (cheapest) and they definitely dull quickly - go sloooooow - dont force it - some of the bits i can get four or more 1mm holes 7mm deep in hard jasper sometimes less than one. for larger holes i use used 1mm bits and ream out the hole since there is always diamond left on all but the tip of the bit. Id love to find a source for better inexpensive bits myself, but im a bit impatient and tend to waste the more expensive ones just as fast as the cheapies. (and a buck a bit aint cheap when you dont even get one hole.)
