Sorry for the Whink error. U are correct it is a dilute Hydroflouric Acid solution and therfore a serious health hazard when it comes to any exposure especially inhalation. I have used it outdoors on stuborn stains on Quartz but do not leave them soaking for any great amount of time as yes, it will eventually etch them.
As far as MSDS for a beginner we were taking abut Material Safety Data Sheets. Most products have them attached nowadays. Many do not however give u the complete picture and it is best to get those that meet a national standard off the internet. Again I am getting old and sometimes one commercial acid product or contents, a rocks name, or where was that locality anyway slips my mind so thanks for the correction Dave.
Wish this snow would melt so I could go prospecting but Merry Christams to all from an old New England collector!
