Flat Lap vs. Wheel Style Lapidary Machines?
I'm just getting started with cabbing and am thinking about getting cabbing machine. We have a Genie at school and I really like using it, but they are quite expensive. I have seen some flat lapidary machines for a much lower cost and was wondering how they compare to machines like the Genie? Does anyone know of an article that would describe some of the features of the various bands/types on the market.... so a newbie can find her way to the right machine...?
One friend mentioned that a Covington combination model would be good, so I would get a slab saw with the cabbing unit. I was looking at them today and it seems they have fewer wheels than the Genie... any thoughts on how that would impact the end result?
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
