Need Legal Advice Regarding Club Liability Waviers

Don't know if this is appropriate here since it has to do with law. Our rock club, as many others do, have a "hold harmless" type doc that invitees to one of our sponsored field trips need sign to indemnify the club from injuries one of them might get during the trip. No problem as most understand and comply.
However, I am concerned that this hold harmless may be less than implied. In this day of nuisance lawsuits under the Tort aspect of law I can't help but wonder if a hold harmless would be sufficient to really prevent liability. Sure, I know, get the club insured. That would help but, aside from that, I was wondering if any here know if the hold harmless doc actually would stand up in court as a protection?
