The color sounds like it might be right for cuprite. Identifying a mineral over the web is a bit problematical, but can you answer a few questions?

Can you determine the shape of the crystals? Cuprite is usually octahedral, sometimes cubuc, and rarely dodecahedral.

Are there any other copper minerals on the specimen? Any traces that are green or blue?

If there is a suitable place (meaning unobtrusive), can you scratch a crystal face with the point of a needle? Use a magnifier so it can be a tiny scratch. Cuprite ought to scratch easily.
