Re: Re: Anyone have an extra trim saw?

thanks for your reply. I haev considered building a saw myself, as the major parts are readily and cheaply available. I would have to fabricate some sort of work table and would like to be able to accomodate a vice. I have a new 12 mil blade I was given with the faceter and I can get an arbnor from Grizzly tool for 35.00 or less. A belt and pulleys and I'm set. i have an old motor rigged as a grinder already. I agree oil is a messy proposition and I would bneed a hood to use an oil cooled saw. I considered a larger saaw but friends convinced me i was better off buying my rough slabbed and just getting a trim saw for now. As I want to facet, a 20 mil blafe like yours would eat up a lot of rough. An 8 mil 4" might be even better. Anyway, also have reservations about having all that water so close to an electric motor housing, etc. But, with a little thought I bet I could reengineer an old grinder to keep the coolant where I want it and support the work piece . thanks for your thoughts. Maybe someoone out there has a commercial saw they would part with reasonably and I think I will wait a bit longer before I take to the shop and rig something.

take care,
Mark
