Mineral hunting sites in Missouri?

My wife and I enjoy hunting for minerals and fossils and would appreciate suggestions on good places to hunt - we live in St. Louis, and are looking for areas within an hour or two drive. We did just go to Hamilton, IL this past Saturday for Keokuk geodes though, so going further is not out of the question. :) I checked the message board archive, but there hasn't been much mentioned for Missouri or Illinois beyond geodes, although one poster from five years ago mentioned mine tailings in the Fredericktown area that are worth a look (at least back then - are they still worthy of note?). We have visited sites in Madison County, IL, Eureka, MO, and St. Joe, MO where we have found interesting things, but any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
