The problem I have with large groups digging in the National Forest is all the rules and restrictions that are sure to follow, even to the point of sites being closed.
Many sites that I've been to are no longer the same, many have restrictions to the point of making the dig a lost cause, or "off-limits" to the rockhound. I believe it's much better to keep a very low profile in the NF with a very few number. It's much better to never have restrictions, than to try to change "Uncle's mind" after they have been put in place!
If anyone can open new sites on private land that can be collected, then go for it!
