Okay, I went thru the ROCK key and the piece that's embedded in the rock is identified as obsidian. I did a search on the web for this and it doesn't look like it usually comes in the crystal tube shape this one is in. I went thru the mineral key and it looks like black (pure black with no other colors) quartz. So I am confused. There is also mica in the rock around the little black obsidian/quartz thing. The rock that it is embedded in is very heavy for it's size but doesn't look like petrified wood to me (of course what do I know). If you give me your email address I will email you 2 photos of it.
