Hi Kirsten;

If the name of a schist gets more specific, it usually takes one of two forms. The common one is to prefix the schist with the name of the dominant mineral, such as biotite (i.e. biotite schist). Or muscovite, chlorite, etc. The other form is to prefix the name with the name of the geologic formation in which it is found. That is usually not possible if the rock is a pebble and at some distance from its origin.
