I'm thinking that because vinegar is a mild acid that it is cleaning (etching) the ends of the fibers, much like when they use muratic acid (diluted) to do the final clean (etching) on ceramic floor tile. It gets all the grout off the tile and leaves a nice seam between the tiles. This could be what is happening. Leaving a beautiful final finish. Just guessing.
