Mike,

Another thing to look for in a digital camera is the ability to set a custom white balance. There are a number of preset color balances on most cameras. The D50 allows you to set a white balance for the light set you are using. When I have my camera on the scope I place an 18% gray card under the scope, focus on it with the lighting turned on and follow the steps to set white balance for that set up. It seems to work very well. Once it set the camera retains the setting in memory so you can go back to use it another time. Of course you must remember to switch back to one of the pre set setting for other work. I have missed this a few times.
