Re: Stabilizing veined quartz slab?

Wow, some great suggestions, thanks! I know it might never stabilize properly, but if you saw the material you understand why I have to try. I'm trying to attach a picture, how do I do that?

James, Bond-Optic sounds like what I'm looking for, but $40?! I googled Bond-Optic and got exactly 8 hits, all for the sales sites that said the same thing, so apparently no one else has tried it either. Did you ever try contacting Rare Earth to see if they will sell a sample size?

It seems the theme to all the suggestions was to use something thin, with a long set time. Warming will also help (not a problem this time of year in Phoenix.) I don't have access to a vacuum set-up. I know of someone who uses cyanoacrylate (Hot Fix brand) on very warm stones. For some reason that doesn't sound right to me, but I can't put my finger on why. Has any one tried the super-glue route?

Don, I've never heard of thinning the resin first, does that weaken the set epoxy at all?
